Oh man, I know how you feel. I do have two nephews and one niece, but I was just a kid when they were born and I never got to spend that much time with them because of school. Now it's too late, they're all grown up and are complete arrogant jackasses who want nothing to do with me (much like their parents). I'm hoping for a second chance via becoming a great-aunt, but unfortunately I'm not sure if they'd let me (if any of them have kids at all). :(
