He does not, unfortunately. That said, he does still have a lot of adorkable fanboy-ish moments, as well as a good story line in general. :)

If you would please feel free to spoil me, does it take place after the Avengers movie? I don't remember if it was supposed be in a vague timeframe, or somewhere between the previous ones.

It takes place after the Avengers and Iron Man 3, and surrounding Thor 2.

Coulson's main story line is about what happened to him after the Avengers. The main antagonist uses, among other things, the Extremis from Iron Man 3. And the first part of the season takes place before Thor 2, with one of the middle episodes taking place directly after Thor 2 (the characters cleaning up in the aftermath of the movie's events) and then segues into a plot that isn't related to Thor 2 events directly, but was catalyzed by them and is connected to Asgard, building up who and what they are in the MCU (which is advanced aliens, rather than the gods of the comic worlds).
