you're right, regina was sacrificing her relationship with henry so he could live with his bio-mom and he should have spit in her face

(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
her making that choice doesn't change the fact that she's done nothing else but predominantly awful things otherwise. it doesn't mean henry should spit in her face, but regina doesnt deserve any kind of mother-of-the-year awards.

its also annoying how the writers seem to forget how awful they make regina half the time.

He said "I thought you didn't love me. But I was wrong." He didn't say "You're a great, perfect mother."

And Regina explicitly tells him that it's her fault, not his.

"Henry. I was wrong too. It wasn't your fault, it's mine. I cast a curse out of vengeance and I'm-I'm a villain. You heard Mr. Gold. Villains don't get happy endings."

Thanks for bringing some facts to the party. Tasty, delicious facts.

Henry also said "If I had never gone to get Emma. If I just lived under the curse with you."

Some more facts for you.

Did anyone say that part wasn't true?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Which is what "And Regina explicitly tells him that it's her fault, not his" is referring to.

Tbh I want to slap him all the time.

Meh, I don't know the context (gave this show up around episode five or six of this season - I MISS YOU, HOOK) but Henry's been in an abusive family with Regina, there's no way his feelings are logical. She treated him as though he was crazy and didn't believe him (even though it was all true) which is devastating to anyone, let alone a ten year old. Then she magically kidnapped him, then let him go to "be better" for him. Poor kid probably feels guilty and yet still dealing with how she treated him. I'd give him a break.

Seriously?

People bitch if he's not nice to Regina, they bitch if he is.

There's no pleasing you people.

I feel like this statement is true of all fandom, all the time. No matter what happens, no matter where you turn - SO MANY ANGRY PEOPLE.

Uhh...that's a bit harsh (and violent), isn't it? Don't get me wrong, Regina is far from a perfect mother or person and gets basically zero sympathy from me, but Henry is her son and loves her despite the terrible things she's done. I don't know if he should forgive her, but he's young and confused and wants some stability and for most of his life that's been with Regina. Even if she's done wrong by him he thinks she loves him (and she does imo, although they've never had a healthy relationship) and he appreciates that.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I definitely understand why you would want to keep your urge to punch a child in the face a secret.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I can see why this is a secret--your reaction to Henry being kind to Regina, his abusive mother who has finally taken responsibility for being a shitty person, because he thought he'd never see her again, is to want to subject him to more abuse? Okay.
Regina has been an awful person. I don't like her much, and the things she does to Henry (mindwiping, gaslighting, accidentally poisoning, trying to kill everyone he cares about except her) are horrifying. But blaming Henry and wanting to harm him for forgiving her is stupid. Also, if you're expecting consistent character arcs, or decent plots, or good writing, Once Upon a Time is probably not the best show to watch. Regina may be back to doing terrible villainous things while Henry tries to get away from her next episode.

Children are invariably badly written. Either too twee or too psychotic. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND.
