Generally only in fandom and only by people who are downplaying the fact that it is incest. Pseudo means not genuine or sham.

Not always. Sometimes it just means "partially" or "sort of"

It's not a perfect word, but it does the job, I think.

ETA: Yeah, I can see where people are coming from. I'm sorry. It is what it is, but I agree, it's not a good word for this situation. It's not my intent to imply that adoptive siblings aren't fully siblings because they definitely are.

I do think maybe for some people the squick comes from the possible inbreeding, and for others the psychological bit, and for some both. But yeah, it's still incest. I can see calling it "adoptive incest" maybe but I can see why "pseudo" isn't a good choice.
