I really like Alaskan air. They're definitely one of the better American companies IMHO.

I've seen some newer planes with docks, but most don't have them. Depending on whether or not you have a layover, you can charge them in your connecting airport. Most airport have lots of charging stations now with both normal plug and USB jacks.

ETA: My personal tip, bring an empty water bottle (since you can't bring liquids past security) and fill it up from a water fountain by your gate. The flight attendants will come around with water, but sometimes I drink it too fast and am still thirsty, or I want to put my tray table up but can't because the water's in a cup and there's no way to store it for later. (Sometimes they give out mini-water bottles instead of a cups, but usually it's cups.)

That's such a better idea than the water in a cup. Definitely making a note for next time.

That's absolutely the best thing I discovered. I buy a Brita water bottle to travel with, this way I never have to worry about the quality of the water where I am and can refill and dump it at will.

And yes, much love for Alaskan air, I just wish they had a bigger presence.

I'll just have to turn my phone off while I'm in the air, which I should probably be doing anyway- aren't phones not allowed on airplanes? |D

Ohhh good idea! I might see if I can afford one of the nice ones with the filter, like shortysc22 suggested.

Normal phones need to be turned off. Smart phones need to at least be in airplane mode.

Honestly though, as long as you're not actively trying to make calls or use your mobile data, I think you're fine. I've forgotten to turn my phone off/put it into airplane mode many times and it's never been an issue. It just ends up really draining the battery.

So yeah. MP3 players, gameboys, laptops, and books are your friends.

I can easily put my phone in smart mode, yes. :D And it's the battery drain I'm worried about so I'll just turn it off...

I might even see if I can pick up one of those "big books of activities", like, the ones for kids maybe even? Or one of the fancier coloring books. Could be fun! :D
