Re: France
(Anonymous) 2014-01-25 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)Nice places I'd rec: it depends on what you like. If you like the seaside, try the Brittany coast (Cap Fréhel, Cancale, Bréhat, Saint Malo, Mont-Saint-Michel...), Corsica or the secluded beaches around Marseilles. Collioure is pretty neat, too.
If you're more into old stones and buildings, Bordeaux, Lyons, Nantes, Strasbourg, Carcassonne. For little villages, check Collonges-la-Rouge, Argentat, Donzenac, Saint-Cirq Lapopie - tiny, but the stones breathe with past lives.
If you want wide spaces - the Aveyron area is made for you. Around Laguiole, it's large fields and small mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. It can be a bit nippy, even in summer, but the food is fantastic and the air is so clean. If you're more into forests, the Périgord/Limousin area is better.
Re: France
I'm definitely taking notes on these places, since there are lots of them that aren't as commonly recced, and I do know Paris is not France. The little villages, for example, I had never heard of, and they seem pretty neat :333 Also the open spaces such as the Brittany coast, Laguiole or the forests. (I've heard forests in France are really beautiful!)
