Ooh, are you from Malaysia?

This is probably a big question, sorry, but what would you say are the biggest either controversies or points of discussion in regards to Islam where you live? Is there a big liberal vs conservative divide, for example?

Well I'd definitely say that there is a divide between some young Muslims and the older, more traditional Muslims, but they're extremes and most people strike a very comfortable balance that doesn't go against Islam at all. I think the biggest issue is probably Sunni v Shiah as mentioned above. Currently in Malaysia there's also a huge political debate between Barisan Nasional and Parti Islam Semalaysia with both sides using Islam as an argument but that's far more political than religious.
