I see Bruce as a loving adoptive father and a civic-minded philanthropist who also happens to be a genius detective who is just messed up enough to think putting on a bat-themed costume to go fight criminals is a perfectly sane idea and I flat-out reject any stories where he is portrayed as being a psycho.

The whole reason I can't take the Batman franchise - especially the grimdark versions - seriously at all is because in the end, it always comes down to "grown man who dresses up as a bat".
