Another one of my favorites comes from a friend who had assigned her students to write an argumentative essay. The thesis began: "As my mother and I have stated...."

It's a state college and not a party school. I kinda think this is a thing that happens no matter where you teach though (at least based on talked to friends who teach at a variety of institutions)

Hmmm, I understand the bad work being in any school but asking for extra credit because you were in jail was not common at either of the colleges I went to.
