Okay, I figured it out!

Looks like Firefox has a dumb default with mp3 link downloads and you do some kind of smart altercations to fix it: http://www.fluxbytes.com/software-tips/force-firefox-to-prompt-to-save-mp3-and-videos-rather-than-play-them-in-the-browser/

Ooh neat. Haven't used FF for various reasons in a long time, but I normally just save direct-links via the link (save link as), or save the page if I already have it playing in-browser.
