Pokemon X Y question (Mew)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I really want a Mew, but I honestly don't care about it being "legitimate". Does anyone know any way to hack a Mew into the game? I'm new to the newer Pokemon games, I haven't played since the good old Gameshark days. I heard there was an app to get Pokemon in the last generation... is there one for this gen, too?

Also, I noticed in the GTS, a lot of people have shiny legendaries up for grabs. Are these... legitimate?

There's currently no app that works for XY, because of how the 3DS is set up.

Your best bet is wait for Pokébank to be released for English speaking countries and get someone to generate a legitmate looking Mew and trade. (Or wait for a Mew event that will *probably* happen.)

And it's unlikely that they're legitimate unless they're sixth gen legendaries, because Pokébank allows legitmate looking Pokémon to bypass its filters.

(It's also technically possible to have hacked six gen Pokémon, but it apparently requires a lot of technical skill and that information isn't widely available, because evidently the group that figured it out doesn't want to contribute to the whole cheating metagame thing the Pokémon fandom has.)

Not sure about hacking, but some of the shiny legendaries may be legit - Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, Celebi, and Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina were all legitimately and widely distributed as shinies. (The Beasts/Celebi were just before gen 5, the Creation Trio just before gen 6.)

For others, it's... fairly unlikely, especially version mascots like Reshiram and Zekrom.

It doesn't work yet for the new gen, but if you have one of the DS games you can always use this site. I haven't used it for Black/White, but I did use it to help me complete my pokedex in Platinum (couple special event legendaries I was missing) and it worked fine. I have no idea if the pokemon would get flagged as being hacked by PokeBank, though.
