Is there any major industrial area in or around Boston? I've been there a couple of times but I don't remember seeing one.

How do you mean industrial? Like, big factories or manufacturing plants? There aren't many of those around here. Most of the businesses in the city are in the service industry. Lots of corporate buildings - and colleges.

Ah, that's what I thought! It seemed strange to me that a major city wouldn't have an industrial area, so I wondered if I'd just missed it.

Also - how common is the stereotypical Bostonian accent? The only time I ever heard it while I was visiting was on the subway.

Haha I rarely hear the actual Bostonian accent, which is a shame, because it's great. Since most of the people I interact with/hear aren't from the area (again, lots of college kids) typically the only times I hear the accent are from older adults, mostly T conductors. I don't know if they practice to sound authentic but it's great.

My stop for the conference I was attending was "Harvard Yard" so I got at least a little dose of it every day ;p
