I recall threads being frozen quite often, but this demanding them to be deleted seems to be relatively new afaik.

If they're totally wanky and clearly made FOR the wank, yes. Leaving them up is just encouraging even more topics like this to crop up, as they have been recently, and making pointlessly offensive threads that need to be frozen every other day. At a certain point it gets more efficient to nuke things and let people know their efforts at shit-stirring will from now on result in nil!
