Eh, people tend to moan about shipping being so prevalent in fandom, but in my experience even when people start discussions on other topics or write stories based around other subjects they're the ones that seem to get the least amount of attention even from people who claim to want something else.

And I get why shipping is so prevalent. Part of it is people just like romance and sex more, but mostly action and none romantic storylines are often already covered by canon, but a lot of the relationships favoured by fandoms can often only ever be found in fandom.
