Before I start a whole war over pirating, let me be clear that the song I want so bad is NOWHERE ELSE. I have checked every possible legal and illegal channel I could think of for days (it's an impressive list too) and still haven't found it. The only place I hear this song played in full is on youtube. I'll buy it when it is released, if it ever is. BUT I'M OBSESSED AND I NEED A MP3 OF IT NOW!!!!

*ahem* So, how do I go about ripping audio off a youtube video and turning into an mp3?

4k Youtube to MP3 is a good program. Dirpy for web-based. My favorites, anyway.

Eh I just use keepvid

I download the video and rip the audio from it in Audition. But you'd need Adobe CS5.5 or 6 for that.

I have an old computer. It can't handle me getting any of the apps or scripts needed to rip audio. It can barely handle tumblr, ffs.

Download videos, or the audio from them, and can even edit the ID3 tags for MP3 files and change the file name before downloading. :)

dvdvideosoft has a really excellent free downloader program that lets you choose the quality you want to download in; you'd have to install it to your computer, though.

To add to the twenty answers you've already gotten, keepvid.com works for most youtube videos. It will give you an option for the format you want, and mp3 is generally one of them. :)

If you have Audacity, and realtek drivers, you can rip any audio playing on your computer. Just set the microphone input to stereo mix.
