... and are those the characters you love the most, or not?

Depends on what exactly I identify with them on.

Most of the time, yeah! But then I feel narcissistic...

Aranea Serket from Homestuck, Shinohara Wakaba from Utena, and Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon.

The first two aren't my favorites in their respective stories, but Jupiter is my favorite Sailor Senshi. I think, with the first two, it's partly because I can plainly see all of my negative traits mixed in with all the positive ones, and sometimes I don't like to be reminded of my negative traits. But with Jupiter, I identify with her in a more positive way and can look up to her for motivation and inspiration.

I rarely find myself identifying with characters, but when I do they're ones I like. Mitchell and Alex on Modern Family are the two I've noticed that I see myself in.

I almost never identify with characters much. And the ones I love most I usually don't identify with at all.

There are characters I love because I identify with them and characters I hate because I identify with them and I honestly couldn't give you any consistent reason a character would fall into one category or the other.

Sometimes, but it really depends why I identify with them. Sometimes I have encountered characters I love because they're basically like what I would IDEALLY be if I could get my stuff together. Sometimes the characters are making the same mistakes I do and I want to strangle them.

You believe and take anything like candy/evidence from strange children, and planned a seven-year long revenge scenario, and went about your house like a cat despite having a daughter? And sometimes you base life decisions on your relationships with people from your childhood?

...Yes to some of that and no to others. XD

Basically at the time AJ came out, I was in a situation where, due to my own overconfidence in my abilities, I had spent a long time unemployed, then finally found steady work at a soul-sucking retail job which I found worked a whole lot better when I pretended to be far more dumb/oblivious than I actually was. I was unexpectedly good enough at this that my bosses loved me and let me pretty much do whatever I wanted as long as the basic responsibilities were met... which meant I spent most of my time alternately screwing around doing silly useless crap or plotting how to get back into a career path that actually utilized the talents I wanted to utilize. And my motivation for a lot of that was in fact a few lost little girls who had been abandoned. Lost little girls with long ears and fluffy tails, who made me smile even when I wanted to give up, and made even a life that was not living up to expectations... well, still full of happy moments. Also made the apartment a complete mess, but oh well. Happy.

Not so happy that I didn't leap at the chance, when it presented itself, to get myself out of that job and back to something where I had to dress business casual at the minimum, though. ;)

Ah, didn't expect a serious answer, but I'm happy you did. I get you. I imagine it must have hurt to purposefully dumb yourself down, but this sounds ridiculously cool for taking advantage of it and getting back to a point you'd prefer. And yay for inspirational bunnies too!

Yeah, it was really sort of uncanny in a lot of ways... of course I got into the fandom JUST BEFORE the release of AJ, had pretty much just marathoned the first three games, then waited a month and went into AJ without knowing any info about it except that there was a new protagonist and Phoenix had a new look. Didn't recognize the similarities until I started seeing people complain about how Phoenix had changed in this game and I found I was taking their criticism strangely personally...

When I figured it out, I was already in the process of making Naruhobo cosplay for a masq skit, so I took a pic of myself in the hat with the little bunny-girl who literally turned up on my doorstep when I was at a particularly low point, and used that as my FB profile pic for awhile. :D

Not that I unequivocally love him or anything though. He comes really close to causing embarrassment squick sometimes, because he's really sort of a loser in some of the same ways I'm really sort of a loser. :P

MCU: I used to identify with Darcy, back before she was popular. When she was this random flighty political science student with good analytic skills and an interest in advanced science she may not understand but like anyway? Yeah, I liked that.

And then fandom dugs its claws into her and the fanon about her...no, I no longer identify with Darcy, not who/what she is (or at least is seen as) in fandom.

In terms of, uh, 'execution', I identify more with Jane Foster (really, really focused on my work and kind of frazzled/brain-scattered). In terms of personality, though, I'm bit more like Pepper Potts, slightly and quietly domineering but mostly just exasperated a lot by the people I care about.

Andrea from Walking Dead -- I probably loved Daryl a bit more though. (and both Fandom and Series treatment of her was why I bailed on both)

Not really. I identify with Piper Chapman in OItNB and while I think she's got good character development, she's not one of my all-time faves. I usually really LOVE characters I don't have much in common with (like Scully in TXF).

Michael from Arrested Development. Piper from Charmed. Dean from Supernatural.

From Beast Wars: Rattrap and Waspinator. And yes, they are my faves. Everybody seems to like Waspinator, and I think it's because they can identify with him. "Whyyyyy univerze hate Wazzpinator? :C"
