I try to stick with the same brands but I really dislike how tiny the nail polish bottles have gotten yet cost around £6 for something that looks like would only last a couple of applications. Yet the cheap stuff chips horribly in a day. :/

In my experience it really depends on the brand. Some of the cheapest polishes I own ($2, $3) last longer than the more expensive stuff ($5, $11). Wet n Wild tends to be really good, especially the megalast line, and I seem to recall Finger Paints and even Sinful Colors being pretty good. There's this (hard to find, I believe) brand called Confetti that's cheap and once lasted two weeks with next to no chips. However every Milani I own chips terribly day one and though some of my favorite colors are China Glaze, the quality can be very hit and miss. Zoya tends to be fantastic but my last mani didn't last a couple days without chipping; it was very disappointing.

Damn difficult nail polish...
