...is this really all it now takes for something to be declared "MRA?"

If you truly do believe that this became an "MRA thread," then I think you're doing a great disservice to your cause. There's some really vile shit that goes on in legitimate MRA forums, and equating that with rather benign disagreement makes a potentially dangerous mockery of it.
