Hah! Whereas for me, Burn Notice is too high on boom and too low on believable characters I love.

But everyone's got their thing--I bet a lot of fandoms would welcome you writing the occasional fic in the style you're looking for. I like me some silly A-Team but I would in no way object to someone writing more hard military stuff for them!

OP here

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Admittedly, "believable" is debatable, since pretty much everyone on the show is a super-competent spy or ex-SEAL or whatever else, but I find all the characters awesome and lovable.

Re: OP here

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hah, the 'super-competent spy' angle actually doesn't bother me; for some reason something about the acting, or the way the characters were presented, or whatever, just leaves me totally cold. Numb3rs was the same way, and Criminal Minds. I'm glad to know it's just me though. :D

Burn Notice secret!!!! I approve b('')b

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
OT- I recently caught up with the final season of burn notice and was really confused by Fi's random boyfriend. I've never been a 'die for my ship' shipper or anything but he appeared completely randomly and was already living with Fi after Micheal had been gone for less then a year. It really really irked me.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think it was a reaction to Michael going back to the CIA after all they'd been through; during the whole series, she's been trying to convince him to move on, and then he goes back in and ends up disappearing, so I think that pushed her into trying to cut her losses. (Of course, that was never going to work, because OTP.)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I understand but I felt really bad for him because he was obviously the disposable boyfriend inserted to create drama. It just also felt really fast because she had just ended, what was arguably, the most important relationship she had ever had and was already in another really intense relationship with another guy like 8 months later.

That's one intense rebound relationship.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
True, though Fi is an intense kind of person.

At least they didn't have her dump him to go back to Michael, which would've made me feel worse for him. He was the one who initiated the breakup (admittedly for reasons I found annoying, even while I was sitting there waving my Michael/Fi banner).

I have nothing interesting to add except yay for a Burn Notice secret! It deserves so much more attention.
hands4healing: (I approve!)

Your secret makes me ridiculously happy.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Burn Notice. I came for Bruce Campbell and stayed for everything else. (...but mostly Bruce.)

[personal profile] escriboconundedo 2014-01-30 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
that sounds less like a 'burn notice' oproblem and more like a 'my tacticvs must actyally be tactics' problrem. which isn't really a problem at all.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yet another "Yay! Burn Notice secret!" comment. (YAY!)

What unrelated fandoms are you reading where the characters have "air support"? I'm wracking my brains to think of any mainstream fandoms to which that would apply, and all I've got are... Generation Kill? Maybe SHIELD but it's hoke-tacular and realism never applies in canon so why would it in fic?

...Also because I need the names of said fandoms, because relevant to my interests.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
'Village square' makes me think of the Stargates, for some reason.

I'm trying to apply it to the usual suspects (Dr Who/Sherlock/Supernatural) and something about Dean and Sam screaming DANGER CLOSE as bombs fall on the Monster of the Week keeps cracking me up.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Jesus! Would you watch it? You just made me unable to drink water. I was trying, I was trying real goddamn hard you typist, but it wouldn't stay in my mouth what with the convulsions and the rushing of air. My epiglottis was just flapping in the goddamn wind as far as anybody in my system was concerned. FUCK YOU BIOLOGY! Anyway, the water got pushed out through my lips and between my fingers (I had put my hand up to my mouth as an aid, even though experience should have taught me that it doesn't do jack shit) and went all over my shirt. Soaked through, easy. NOW I'M WET.

Are you satisfied?

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a particularly mainstream fandom, admittedly (nor one in which realism particularly applies in canon). "Air support" here refers to a rather ramshackle shuttlecraft-like spaceship being used in atmosphere.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Older, less mainstream, and even less concerned with realism.

Red Dwarf.
