[Star Trek: The Next Generation]

Do it. At least try. What is there to lose?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Somebody will notice and they'll scream, "AH HA! I knew you were a big Trek-loving nerd! Everyone, come and laugh at the person who watches Star Trek!" And then everyone will come over and hate you b/c you like Star Trek and they'll all eat ice cream and just laugh and laugh and have a good ol' time

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
I just see that as a very convenient way to identify the people you don't actually want to be friends with. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be friends with anyone who'd mock a person for liking TNG.

This sounds like a dream where you end up in a public place naked.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
That happens to me all the time.

...only it's not a dream.

So... you're a flasher?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
Well...no. I mean, I think to be a flasher I'd have to mean to do it. And I don't mean to do it.

It kind of sucks, actually.

Pretty sure people who recognise the word 'Imzadi' don't get to insult other people for being 'Trek-loving nerds'...

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, this. If you recognize the term, then you've just outed yourself as a big ole Trek-loving nerd.

It's a lovely concept, OP. You can always say it's "another language" and leave it at that?

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's a really pretty word. And there's probably a situation in which you can use it somewhere :D

(I use made-up curse words. 'Shassa' is from a Star Wars novel, but it's just so SATISFYING to say. SHassssssa!)

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
can't really blame you for being embarrassed but it's not like you have anything to lose although if you use it in conversation with none trek fans then you'll probably have to explain the origin of it

I heart that book so hard. :) Rock on, OP. You find your Imzadi, and they're gonna love it when you call them that. <3

[personal profile] escriboconundedo 2014-01-30 01:53 am (UTC)(link)

All paramours must pass the Imzadi reference test.

Say it! If anybody looks at you funny you can pretend you just sneezed!

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
you should be embarrassed.

i think i finally either threw that ST: NG book away or put it in the bag to go to a charity shop.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Say it, baby. Just say it. Say it all over the place.

I would love you. And I'm not alone.

There are many of us. Out here. Waiting for you. You'll have your pick.

I won't get offended if it's not me. I promise. I'll be happy for you, whoever you wind up with, because the knowledge that you'll be able to express yourself the way you want will be enough to sustain me and all of my kin. Actually, you'll be of my kin! One of us. We're nice. We like Betazoids.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Awww. I always thought that was a word that ought to see more use just because it's so lovely. :)

Well, you could always try something German

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Seelenfreund(in) m(f) - soul mate

Herzallerliebste - darling, dearest (which I think is literally ‘love with all one’s heart’)

Liebesheirat - love match

(Anonymous) 2014-01-30 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
When you finally meet the person worthy of the word, you won't be embarrassed to say it.

Thanks to this secret I finally understand the origin of the sn of someone I knew in fandom 14 years ago!

Wow. Now I feel old.
