Pick your favorite movies and tell me what your dream cast would be for the remake.

But our favorite movies are our favorite because of the cast. Wouldn't it make more sense to take a movie that you think has casting fail and recast it. Like recasting Oz the Great and Powerful or Man of Steel?

You can do that too!

In that case, I'd remake Constantine, set in England where it belongs, with James Marsters as John, Robbie Coltrane as Chas and Tom Hiddleston as Lucifer.

Oh yeah! James Marsters looks like the comic-book version of John (or does the comic-book version of John look like James Marsters?). I did like the guy who played Lucifer in the original film, but I can totally get on board with your film version.

Hello

How about TV? For years now I've thought that I would eat it up with a spoon if they remade Voyager more in line with how I'd pictured it from the summary (refugee ship without support, getting more eccentric and battered and stitched-together as time goes on, the crew getting closer and less formal, jerry-rigging technology and layers worn over uniforms because heating is energy-expensive, big focus on trading and scavenging)

in that imaginary series, although I iked the original cast, I imagined Amanda Tapping as Janeway, and the guy who plays Jeff on Community as Paris (shhh I know this is crazy leave me be), Stana Katic as B'Elanna, Zachary Levi as the Doctor (wait I KNOW this is dumb, but also I think he could play stiff awkward and rude transitioning to deep dorkiness and oddly likable arrogance)...idk who would play Chakotay or Tuvok or Harry yet.

The thing is, the problem with Voyager wasn't really the cast - I think everyone except Garrett Wang was at least decent and most of them were good to excellent. The problem was always the writing.

That said the idea of Joel McHale as Tom Paris is fantastic.

true--I think I did mention that I LIKED the original cast, it was more an exercise of "since they couldn't have the original cast for the remake here's my dream cast"

to be fair to Garret Wang there wasn't hardly anything for him to do, lol!

I want Raúl Esparza as Rosencrantz and John Simm as Guildenstern. Probably more for a theatrical production, but they would be awesome.

I'm aware it's not a very deep request, and it's seriously not my favourite movie, but I think I'd watch the hell out of Interview with the Vampire, starring:
Chris Hemsworth as Brad Pitt
Tom Hiddleston as Tom Cruise

I would then probably want to fit Tom Hardy somewhere in there too, because that would be unbearably ridiculous.

I think you need to swap them - Hemsworth as Lestat (Cruise), and Hiddleston as Louis (Pitt) - unless you're deliberately casting them against their book descriptions.

Much as I enjoyed Walter Koenig's performance as Bester in Babylon 5, I couldn't help thinking, "If this were made today, he'd be Mark Sheppard." And then I wanted that so bad.

...I am completely stumped as to who could possibly be the equivalent of Weird Al in a remake of UHF. Or Michael Richards, for that matter.

Although the plot is certainly something that could be updated and remade in the modern era very effectively. I showed it to my girlfriend recently, because she hadn't seen it, and she observed "So this is basically 'Occupy TV Station'."

Hmm. Never heard of that movie. Looks cracky as hell. Looks like my sis and I have a drunk movie night in our future.

Oh GOSH yes. I mean, there IS a plot, but it took me until I was an adult to really comprehend it because basically it's... well, it's Weird Al making a movie instead of a musical album. So you're going along and suddenly there's an ad for SPATULA CITY, or CONAN THE LIBRARIAN. Or for no reason, Michael Richards torturing a little plastic toy man he just found in a cereal box.

...Darnit, now I want to watch it again. :D

Oh my GOD, YOU MUST WATCH THIS. It's crack Nirvana. Don't get too drunk, though, it'd be overkill. XD
