I'm someone who gets bored with constant downers. There comes a point where I no longer care. "Oh new bad things happened? So?"

I just become really callous. It's a fault of mine and the reason I've taken so long to start reading this book. The last book left me disinterested.

I feel your pain, but I started a book before you.

I admittedly haven't found the series to be a constant downer, personally; a lot of awful stuff happens, but there are also a lot of victories. I think "Changes" and the books immediately following will probably be some of the darkest ones before the series end, because they're at about the halfway point and thus signal kind of a shift into the "big leagues" plotline, but I do suspect that things will even out pretty soon. Even in this one, while some bad things do happen, I felt like they were less catastrophic than the past couple of books. It's very much a YMMV thing, but that's my take.

Yeah, there's a reason I've stuck it out so long. I indeed didn't think it was a constant downer. I liked Changes. I just think Ghost Stories threw me. There was a lot of negativity and a lot of change for little reason. I think Molly bothered me the most.

I guess I came out of it bothered by the consistency and having little emotional connection to the characters.

Ghost Story was pretty depressing, but I think they're starting to pull out of it, a little? I think he mostly just needed to set up certain things for later, and I'm hoping the characters will continue to crawl out of the hole Butcher dropped them into. (Of course, I tend to almost compulsively stick with series, so some of this may just be what I need to tell myself.)

I'm sorry. I started giggling at pull out. Give me a second.

Hmm, well, that does make me feel a bit better about it.

I'm still scratching my head at some of the plot holes though. I hope he fixes them.

That is entirely valid. I personally have an almost "Oh no they didn't!" reaction to things in that series.
