Re: Feminism MRA and Men

Just be down with equality and fairness and stuff without slapping a name on it. I mean, it should just be taken for granted as part of being a decent human! It doesn't need a name!

Just my two cents as a woman who doesn't call herself a feminist and, like you, can feel kind of alienated by the whole thing.

This. This entire thread is a beautiful example of why I won't call myself a feminist anymore either. Also, what's up with people insisting that "egalitarian" has been "co-opted by woman-hating MRA types"? I keep seeing people claim this all over the damn place but I have NEVER seen a single person who called themselves "egalitarian" ACTUALLY manifest as such. What I have seen is a) the less active of the two egalitarian subs on reddit get taken over by MRA types, though the other one is still pretty balanced and b) people getting really pissy that egalitarians don't talk and behave exactly like many feminists do, i.e. focusing only on women's issues and claiming that all individual men are personally responsible for the problems that they have and therefore we won't bother trying to help them because it's "their fault" that they feel stifled or unhappy with the gender roles that are forced on them.
