Lesson learned from my past three secrets: never set the font on a secret smaller than "15." I'm not sure what it's 15 of, exactly, but just because smaller looks fine when I submit it doesn't mean it's not going to be unreasonably teeny when it posts.

Also - most graphic programs ( even Paint) will let you set the document size. Set it to 590 x 590 square, and then just drop the text into a rectangle under the graphic.

I envy your luck with negotiation...I try negotiating most times when I'm playing that, but end up fighting way more than I do making friends.

Can't you fuse them? It's been a while since I played, but with SMT I try to fuse better demons when I could.

And sacrifice my loyal allies? Yeah, I did a fair number of fusions, but I was never really happy with it. You wouldn't sacrifice your Pikachu and your Charmander to get a lightning lizard, would you?

But you can get your same demons back after fusing them...it just costs macca (a pretty buttload when you're trying to recover a high level one, but worth the cost).

This secret reminds me of playing Civilization (the first version). It was nearly impossible to win the game by trading and so easy if you just got stuck in and wiped out neighbouring tribes. I think they fixed the balance better later on, but it sucked not to be able to win the non-violent way.

So I understand you.

(I didn't know you could talk to the demons. I was considering getting this game. But if you can talk to them and then you have to kill them to win, that's horrible.)

Some Demons can be negotiated with, some can't (bosses can't, Dark aligned Demons can't, if you're Law or Chaos aligned, demons of the opposite alignment are all but impossible (though, IIRC it IS theoretically possible, with a LOT of luck), and certain individuals are just jerks who won't negotiate fairly - 'sure, I'll join you...SUCKER!' *bam!*). The ones who will often attack if you mess up the negotiation (there are abilities to prevent this later on). And there are moon phases where you can't negotiate at all.

There's an indie RPG called Undertale where you can either kill all of the monsters you meet or you can talk to all of them; I think it's possible to make it through the whole game without killing anything. I haven't been keeping that track of it that closely, so I'm not sure if the full version is out yet, but I played a demo of it a while ago that was really good.

The reason I love the SMT games: They are such a great fusion of RPGs and Pokemon XD
But yeah, I guess it's different when you negotiate with them than when you catch them, like in Devil Summoner. Feels a bit like betraying their loyalty.
