IA about the photorealistic art, at least. Especially when it's photorealistic art of actors. Or worse, photomanips. It just gives me the heebie-jeebies.

That said I do often like photo-realistic art, but I always feel a bit voyeuristic looking at it.

I prefer stylized fanart to photorealistic too. I am not sure why, though. I think it's because I just like looking at unique styles rather than art that looks like a photo and you can't tell who did it.

I love photorealistic art in all shapes and forms. Probably because a) I'm an artist myself, b) it is easier to make art IC than it is to make fic IC, and the boundaries of IC-ness are somewhat looser, and c) I don't care for anything even remotely porny, so there's no cause to be squicked or ashamed.

But I can see where you are coming from, OP. Photomanips do the same to me. I cringe soooo hard every time I see that somebody's head iz pastede on, even if it's pastede on skillfully...

If the fanart's of actors, photorealism creeps me out just as much as photoshops. Especially if it's shippy art. bleargh
It's so uncanny valley and uncomfortable.

When it's the other way around, where an artist is creating what they think a character looks like, it's rather cool. I do have the preference for stylization for fanart (whereas sketched cartoons like Sherlock Holmes illustrations are cooler in official publications I guess).

I feel you OP. I don't mind some of the more cartoonish, but still proportionate fanart, but I can't stand it if it actually looks too much like the actors.
