I think it's a common fandom thing to think purple=black. Fans of MLP swear Twilight is also black, since she's purple, lol.

Yeah, I don't get why rl skin color/ethnicity matter here. I don't watch the show either, but it's pretty obvious she's neither black nor white, she's purple.

...what? OMG. Why can't a purple pony just be a purple pony? Maybe it's because I'm white that I just can't understand because I see people of my color all the time on TV, but I feel like for MLP, a yellow pony is just a yellow pony and a purple pony is just a purple pony...

I've never once seen someone say they draw or envision human Twilight as black "because she's purple". It's a skintone that looks good with her mane colors and why not have the main character be black?

I much more often see racist bronies insist that the characters can't be black.

Same. I like Black!Human!Twilight, but I understand it's just a headcanon.

Where are MLP fans swearing Twilight is Black? The two most common representations when she's not white seems to be making her East Indian or North Asian in Ethnicity.

I almost never see human Twilight drawn as Black, I think I've seen more Black representations of Rarity than I have Twilight. Rainbow seems to end up Hispanic a lot, and Pinkie and Applejack are almost never anything except White. Fluttershy is usually White as well, although I am a fan of that artist who drew her Middle Eastern with the pink head scarf.

I see Twilight drawn as Indian more often than not, and it's sort of my headcanon (that is, if I were to draw a human version, she would look Indian). I like black or Asian Rarity, possibly because most of the best cosplayers I've seen for her have been black or Asian.

Mostly, I just like seeing people do anthro versions of the cast that aren't all white.

Kinda reminds me of how much it bugged me in TFA when all the human versions of Bumblebee were a white kid, when in my mind, he was clearly a goofy black kid (like Troy...actually, now that I think about it, Troy is officially my human version of Bumblebee). I felt kinda vindicated when he clearly Wasn't White in the one episode where they're all "human."

I thought the reason with Twilight was because of her name... because twilight is when it gets dark, so her skin would be dark.

Twilight is also when it gets light in the mornings, so that doesn't really works.

I've seena lot of Asian Twilights as well, with all the "all Asians are bookworms" stereotypes.
