Not only were they perfectly okay with it, but nobody in the show has ever questioned the appropriateness of a teenage student dating her teacher.

Her teacher. I didn't proceed after that point and only watched the first episode.

I think she's 16 at the start, and he's her teacher but they met in a bar the summer before he started teaching there and he thought she was in college until she showed up in his class.

As I recall they weren't immediately OK with it. There was lots of angst because her parents were ~keeping them apart~... and they were ABSOLUTELY in the right. But because it's ~true love~ or some bullshit I guess eventually her parents were okay with the creepy power dynamics and STATUTORY RAPE so yay all peachy keen now. wtf show.
