Re: Your rant thread of the day
I'm planning to visit her the first week in February. Or I was. I thought we had finally gotten all of our details straight. I would go on the 1st to my friend's in Santa Barbara and hang out and spend the night there, then on Sunday morning get on the train again and arrive in Lompoc. I wouldn't even have to go home by train because she'd be coming south for our mom's birthday. Awesome!
So Sister had said she'd need to go down to SB on the 4th for a meeting (she's a postdoc), which was cool, whatever. Then late last night-- so just over 48 hours before I'm going to my friend's-- she emails me again saying "Oh bother, I have to go to campus again on the 3rd now, sorry we won't have as much time together. Can we reschedule for later in the month?" I reminded her that scheduled everything else I had planned that month around being away until the 7th. And asked her if three full days and parts of the 3rd and 4th really wasn't enough, because it was inconvenient to move the other things I have going that month. I can amuse myself while she's out, I have reading for both work and pleasure, I can play with her cat, and I want to cook her dinner. Let alone the fact I can hang out with her roommates, who are lovely people.
I tried my very best not to sound quite as peeved as I am. She's been very difficult to get ahold of while scheduling this, as she has been her whole life (I had to remind her I'd want to go looking for a replacement person for her Hiddleston NT Live Coriolanus tickets if she didn't respond to whether or not she was coming down for our mom's birthday weekend) and I found her email last night incredibly frustrating. I've been planning on this since the first week of the year!
