Dentists are wanting $800 dollars to pull one tooth! I was starting to consider getting some vodka, pliers, antibiotics, and gauze for $20. I can always reuse the pliers and vodka later! ...The gauze too if I washed it but I'm not that cheap.

Huh, that is twice as much as mine, but then again I might have to pull all 4 of them... (Somehow without meaning to I managed to move to the city with the cheapest dentists)

I would not advise doing it on your own tho, even if it would be cheaper! But maybe look around to see if someone can do it for less?

My oral surgeon is the cheapest.

To have all 4 out will cost me almost $3,000. Luckily I can wait until my insurance appeal will is resolved and I will only have to pay a little of that. My employer has good insurance. :D

I should maybe go to another dentist because today when the doctor asked if I was on birth control I said no and the nurse piped up "Oh of course not! Look at that sugar face, she's a good girl." Which made me mad so I said "Nope. I'm just a lesbian with no medical conditions that birth control helps." So maybe I shouldn't be unconscious in the same room as her...

I did not get called sugar face or any of her other variations of that afterwards. She actually called me by name after that! Which made me laugh too.

Since the oral surgeon seems to be the most sensible of the lot, maybe ask him for recommendations for dentists?

Normally with my insurance I go to the PPO, this was really a time/money demands situation I hope not to repeat but that is a good suggestion!

..That strikes me as an enormously inappropriate thing for anyone you're paying to say, especially someone in the health field. :-/ If that were me I'd probably make a complaint - then again, your awesome comeback probably taught her a lesson already.

It's not about "reporting" it so much as it is explaining the problem. Write a letter or e-mail about how the comment made you uncomfortable and you didn't feel it was appropriate. I should think most would be apologetic at a formal and respectful complaint, and possibly talk to the nurse.

I don't really feel like I want to press the point. She obviously gets I didn't take it as a compliment. Thanks though!
