Seriously, the discrepancy between the reactions to the show that I see on Tumblr and the reactions to the show that I see anywhere else is large enough that I'm getting cross-eyed just thinking about it.

Common sense would suggest the show was written from/for Tumblr, sadly.

I read the secret three times and I still have no idea what the spoilers were. Or what happened in S3 at all. As for Adler: My problem is not that Sherlock saved her, my problem is that she didn't die and stay dead. Don't get me started on Moriarty......

I think Moffat has given up on writing and is just stringing "cool" setpieces together. I don't think he put any thought into the ethics of helping an unrepentant murderer hide her crimes, and it's doubtful the implications of Sherlock committing murder will be handled in a thoughtful way. Looking forward to all the "lol who hasn't committed murder" jokes in the next series.

This show is not about writing. It is about 'cool' mysteries and characters who are OMGSOSMART, and plot twists that come so fast you can't wrap your head around them well enough that they aren't twists, but just Moffat throwing everything in the air and yelling 'Sherlock is brilliant!'

The sooner you realize this the happier you will be.

But if he hadn't seen through Moriarty, would he have known to fake his suicide? That took some planning, so it can't have been done last minute, nor can it be something that didn't happen but he claims did.

It could work if the dead guy that looked exactly like him was around. As long as he could get that to fall in his place there is very little else you need

Well, Moriarty is a guy who more often manages crimes rather than directly commits them, so it was probably a logical conclusion to come to think that he might well have a deadman's switch clause which meant that Sherlock couldn't come back if he just wanted to.

I saw a comment on another secret a while back which said that this show is basically bad fanfic and by god it is becoming more and more apparent

The more I hear about Season 3, the more glad I am that I stopped watching it. It's such a mess.

It's still entertaining, but the plot holes/inconsistencies got a little out of hand.

IMO the second episode of series 3 was the second best episode of the show as a whole. But then, I abhorred series 2, and refuse to believe that Moriarty will be back next series, so according to fandom I'm doing it wrong anyway.

Sometimes it helps to return to the surface and take a look at the fanbase outside of intense online fandom to gain some perspective.

Personally, I loved S3.
