Once upon a time I wrote Vaan/Larsa fic. He was aged up though. Man, that was a terrible fic.

Anyway, Larsa neither looks nor acts like a twelve year old so I always forget he's that young; I generally think of him as around sixteen or so.

Doesn't Larsa have a crush on Penelo? I thought it could work out, later, once they were both older.

Then again, it could fail to work out for political reasons. He's a prince, and once Vayne is gone, he's practically Emperor, while she's a street kid from another country (one his country were at war with not long ago) turned Sky Pirate.

I once read a really good fic about it that ended up with them not together for those reasons.

Your comment reminds me how happy I was reading XII fic. I'm sure the quality's averaged out by now, but so much of it was good a few years ago.

Yeah, the time I was in the collective Final Fantasy fandom was from about a year before AC was released to just after FFXII. I had just long enough before Transformers lured me away that I saw some of the early good FF12 fic that popped up on LJ.

Honestly I don't even have much in the way of fic comms listed anymore. I probably ripped them out of my flist some time when I was trying to pare it down a bit.

Aw, do you remember which fic it was?

XII fic has always been my favourite. I'm not sure why, but there have been some damn good ones that stand out the most out of any other fandom I read fic for. I still have so many of my favourites saved.

Valid reading, I suppose, but not mine. They're clearly fond of each other, but I don't think it's a romantic thing. More of a siblingly thing.

I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be viewed, but I always saw it that way, and I'm with you. Their scenes together were adorable and I think that once they've both grown up they'd make a good match. Better than Vaan/Penelo, at any rate (poor Vaan).

I remember seeing a looot of Vayne and Larsa and Gabranth and Larsa back in the day. I wonder if that's changed at all.

I like Larsa and Penelo in general, but the one relationship that always made me most curious was Balthier and Larsa, romantic or not. Balthier mentions being made a judge, but I think the Ultimania said he ran off at seventeen, which means Larsa would've been seven or so. Would they have known each other? Would Balthier have been an option for one of the personal bodyguards? WOULD VAYNE AND BALTHIER HAVE HATED EACH OTHER BUT BEEN STUCK PLAYING TOGETHER ANYWAY BECAUSE CID WAS BUSY AND BALTHIER WAS DEEMED DECENT NOBLE COMPANY? Etc.

Archadia was definitely an area that couldn't have been dragged out, but I wish there were optional quests talking about this stuff or something. Or all the siblings Balthier apparently had. Or the older Solidor brothers. Why do you do this to me, game?

I think the game's pretty bogged down with sidequests as it is, but I'd love to see a side-game, or manga, or novel, or something exploring Balthier's history. Though less the time before he left Archades (save for his relationship with Cid, which I'd love to see...or anything about Cid before he lost his mind), than after...how he met Fran, what they did before the attempt to steal the Dawn Shard...that sort of thing.

Yeah, the game's so stuffed full that I would've been fine with detailed info in the Ultimania, but what little's been translated shows some minimal info. I like the Solidors enough that I would want both chunks of time, though.

I sort of ship Larsa with Ashe as this sort of weird thing where they become increasingly fonder of each other as they grow older and Ashe is always like "you do know this is never becoming public knowledge because Dalmasca is staying WELL APART from the Archadian empire" and for Larsa it's just. frustrating but he still loves her.

I also ship Larsa with Penelo because of mariagoner fic...

But yeah, I think Larsa did come off as really shippable despite being only twelve because of his maturity.
