"Nigga" (as opposed to "nigger") is not offensive in the real world I live in. My brother and his friends address each other as "my nigga" regardless of race, and they're all college-educated.

My 13 year old niece and her friends(female and a mix of white, Hispanic and black) refer to each other using this term. I was a bit taken aback, but they didn't seem to have any idea of the significance.
