Hmmmm.

It kind of sounds like you're over-analyzing the situation a bit (although I can understand why you would; it's kind of exciting to find someone like you!)

It's difficult to tell what she might have been thinking, but from the way you describe it, she sounds as nervous as you were! And maybe she was really shy and tried to exit the conversation. Maybe she had an appointment to get to and she couldn't talk for too long. Maybe she doesn't know any asexual communities apart from the one on tumblr.

Who knows?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, OP - you sound a lot like me, and I tend to over-analyze every social interaction, and assume that everyone is noticing my awkwardness, when it's really not as bad as I thought.

Don't let a little incident like that keep you away from the store you like to go to! And who knows? She may want to talk to you again.

OH and I also forgot to add: She may find it embarrassing or uncomfortable to talk about asexuality in public. Just because she was wearing the black ring, doesn't mean she was actually prepared to deal with talking about it - she may have never really expected to run into another asexual person. (Especially if she's nervous in social situations.)
