The thing that helps me in these sorts of situations is a reminder that most people are too wrapped up in their own lives to worry too much about what I'm doing. You're probably thinking about it much more than she is. Just go about your business and if you see her again, follow her lead. Maybe she'll be more inclined to talk to you next time if she's prepared for the conversation or maybe she'll ignore you or maybe she won't even remember you.

Even if you embarrassed her about commenting on the ring, I don't think you should beat yourself up about thinking that it was something she might want to talk about. Your reasoning makes sense to me. I know I wouldn't blame someone for thinking that I would be okay with talking about something like that when the whole point is to identify myself to other people.
