The only thing you should have done was not have been a complete autist about it and just gone up and said something like "Hey, cool ace ring." ...or whatever they're called... without spilling copious amounts of spaghetti out of your pockets in the process. She was wearing a well-known identifier in the first place, so if she didn't want to be identified that's a pretty poor way of going about it. You were the one making the situation weird, not her.
If you want to make friends with people you should probably practice not being the epitome of awkwardness when you approach them. If I were her I wouldn't want to hang out with some mouthbreathing creeper who was like nniiiiceee rriiiiinggg isss ittt speeecciaaaalllll?
