Some good music.

Also I have a fond recollection of the decor that was our basement for about ten years after we moved in: dark orange and olive green checkered carpet, naked wood paneling on three walls, crumbling corkboard on the fourth, and electric blue shag carpet on the stairs. It was complete with some burnt orange furniture and complimented by the old, worn-out pastel bluish-gray couch my parents put down there before buying a new one.

I will never understand what it was about the seventies that made people think dirty orange and dirty green was a stylish color combination. It reminds me painfully of the auditorium curtain at my old middle school, and it was not a good look. Maybe it somehow looked different in your basement, but that color combination is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about godawful things from the '70s.
