Yeah, they should have wondered first if there was a secret organization inducing heart attacks to criminals related to them...

Yeah, I don't know shit about medicine or investigation, but a heart attack epidemic sounds scarier and somehow more logical than a serial killer who kills random bad guys with the power of his mind

Yeah, same. I'd wonder if some new, IDK, superpoison had been invented that caused heart attacks, or if some sort of pathogen had mutated.

I mean, I know that those aren't exactly logical either, but they'd be more logical then "I bet it's magic!" right?

Wasn't there an episode of Elementary where the murderer killed people by causing them to have a heart attack? If I remember right you'd have to be crazy knowledgeable about the thing though, and only Holmes was able to deduce that it wasn't natural (with Watson's help).

I think you're talking about the Angel of Death episode; in that one the guy was given a shot of epinephrine that messed with his heart. I'm not sure if epinephrine is a viable solution for something like Light did, though; if I remember correctly, it works really fast, and you have to use a lot to trigger a heart attack (or the person has to already have a weakened physical standing?) or else everyone with an epi pen would be in constant fear of having a heart attack.

I mean, if they managed to create some sort of capsule that contained epinephrine, one that was time sensitive, and inject that in the person, or like, nanobots or something IDK, it might work?

Yeah, that's the one. I wasn't very specific haha, sorry about that.

Death by nanobots might be the most awesome thing ever. They would be sent into a tiny spaceship into an artery of the person and they'd have to travel all the way into the heart and they would have lots of cool adventures on the way!!

edit: I accidentally a word

Nah, no worries!

Yeah! Plus, doesn't Death Note take place in a mildly futuristic world? Not like, years from now, but you know, 5 or so, so you could handwave it that they have nanomachines, with people focusing on those first, but I don't know for sure.

On the plus side, if/when we have nanobots that can deliver meds, how cool would that be? Like, you're having an allergic response? Nanomeds to the rescue! Need an insulin boost? The nanobots are giving you a slow stream and keeping track for you so that you're constantly at the right amount! And a bunch of other stuff probably, that I don't know about. |D

It'll finally be cool to be asthmatic because you'll have your nano-inhaler! And tumors will be destroyed with nanoships shooting lasers at it until it disintegrates! After a while we'll even have nanorobots removing boogers from our nose, isn't that the pinnacle of luxury?
loracarol: (spg)

[personal profile] loracarol 2014-02-02 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
YEAH. OR like, anemic people getting the right amount of iron! And I adore the tumor idea; actually, I read a comic about that! It was in a bunch of futuristic-fairy tales, and that one was Rikki Tikki Tavi. :D

Though, boogers might need to stay; they help prevent things like germs/dust/mold from getting into our lungs! Unless you mean excess boogers, from like, colds and stuff, because then I am 120% with that. |D

I'm also assuming most people wouldn't have Light's massive ego and go around taunting people with "I AM KIRA BUT NONE OF YOU KNOW AHAHAHA".

At least, I hope so.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I could never figure out what Light was so paranoid about. Who in their right mind is going to even imagine that a weird string of deaths is being caused by a schoolkid with a notebook? All to avoid the worst-case-scenario of someone finding the Note, all he'd have had to do was take the cover off and destroy it. Without the rules, it's just a suspicious, inconclusive, list of names.

But that would have made a pretty shit story. So.

I don't know, I mean, a bunch of serial killers/prisoners dying coincidentally... does seem like some kind of conspiracy. I don't think the ICPO or even L was expecting anything supernatural at first, not until the Lind L Tailor thing. And think about it: the other criminals all died unexpectedly from heart attacks and all, which made them consider the possibility of a group involvement, possibly some kind of weird poison, who knows. Lind L Tailor was handpicked by L, and after he suddenly dies, I think a lot of people, even rational, would start to get that suspicion that just maybe, it's supernatural.

How else would you address a massive unexplained sudden heart attack in criminals (not prison guards nor civilians)? You can only chalk it down to health problems and bad luck for so long until the pattern becomes obvious - and in his first week as Kira, Light killed hundreds of people iirc.
