Well I believe in Mo-Rarity because the show needs Mo Rarity. There is not enough of Rarity and we need Mo.

All joking aside Rarity as a criminal mastermind sounds amazing.

Crossover, or just casting Rarity as a criminal mastermind? 'Cause the latter would be hilarious, but in the former case I think Rarity would disapprove of that jacket so very much.

Rarity as a jewel thief is a common AU. She fits the "social rogue" archetype pretty well, and her concept of what qualifies as other people's property sometimes seems a bit flexible (as when she tried to steal that dragon's treasure while convincing it to leave.) I've also seen a few versions of her as a spy (generally working for Celestia--she's still a Bearer of Harmony, after all.)

I don't read MLP fic, but I could see some nifty art coming from this idea. As long as it stayed PG-13.

That's ok, OP. Last night I watched an old Sherlock Holmes movie (one of the Rathbone ones) where Moriarty glared at people in a way that was almost hypnotic, and thus got the idea in my head of Fluttershy as Moriarty, with that whole Stare thing. That's even more out of left field.

But I could get behind Rarity as some sort of mastermind, evil or otherwise. She certainly has the drive to pull it off.
