I agree. Even with the backstory in Princess Twilight Sparkle, I'd rather see things about Celestia - hell, even Cadance.

It was billed as being about her, but it was "Celestia tells a story about why she's friends with this crazy old pony who's a former war hero turned professor, and why said professor should still be allowed to teach despite not actually teaching anything correctly anymore."

Same paranoia, but opposite effect, really. Moody got the job because "He's harsh and crazy, but the stuff he teaches is valuable." Inkwell is keeping her job because "Her knowledge and methods are outdated, but she's nice and kids like her." To which my response is "So make her a counselor or something, just don't give her a classroom."

In all honesty, yeah, I agree with you. Celestia is my favorite of the two sisters, and I love Cadence too. Luna might have been an interesting character, but... A lot of rabid fans seem to think "Oh, Luna is so MISUNDERSTOOD. She is just like me! *~*~" Hell, even in canon (both the comics and show), she doesn't really seem to have a defined personality. Is she shy? Is she loud? Is she reserved? Is she fun-loving? How can we tell which personality is the "right" one? She hardly gets any screentime, but the rabid fans seem to have adopted her and made her out to be more wonderful than what the canon material has given us.

Agreed. I really wanted to like Luna, but I have no idea who she actually is...

I think Luna has a more defined personality than "Mysterious Goodly Leader of Eternal Goodness and Sunshine." AKA Celestia. Celestia is 90% a plot device who is there to dispense wisdom and information and we haven't seen much else. She has LESS personality than Luna just by default of Luna doing more than be the information-giver.
