In case you don't have a magnifying glass on hand, here's the transcription:

I'm in a bandom. I'd love to contribute fic, but there's only a very small amount out there, and the band is very well aware of its existence. Recently, some of them READ some.
I can't stand the thought of them reading anything I'd written...

(seriously tho op how did you even manage to fuck it up this much)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-02 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I could read it . . .

(Not OP, but OP of the last three really tiny secrets.)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-03 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Well then obviously this helpful transcript was not for you. Seriously, why did you even comment?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-02 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
They're so mortified by the very idea they can't even stand to write about it in a normal-sized secret?

Ha yes my thought as well.

If they really want to write fic, they could post it locked? Or just share it by email or personal message to other members of their (tiny) fandom? That's what I've done for my truly shameful stuff.

Or they could just write it in really really small fonts and hope the band members have bad eyesight.

I wondered if that was why they wrote the secret so small. "Curses! People can still read it!" then the OP goes for an even smaller font.

Thanks for the transcription. I could just about read it, but I had to squint.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-02 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
THANK YOU. I was squinting at that and wondering omg why so tiny op??

(Anonymous) 2014-02-03 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
they must have shrunk the pic after they finished it.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-02 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that would stop me from participating or writing as well. I like my wall between the creators and fandom.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-02 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I can definitely understand being embarrassed if some socially-awkward fan shoves their (or someone else's) fandom activities in an actor's or creator's face, but I feel like if said actor or creator actively chooses to go seek out fanfic or fanart about them, it's no longer on the fans to feel guilty or embarrassed. I personally don't write RPF, but if an actor or writer happened to find any of my fics, I think the thing I'd care most about is whether they thought I did justice to their character(s).

Pretty much. I don't blame people who don't want to write in fandoms where the actors or creators are very aware of their fanbase, but I also don't think you need to feel ashamed if they go looking for it.

OP

(Anonymous) 2014-02-03 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I've not heard of them seeking it out of their own volition. Mainly there are some obnoxious fans who strongly disapprove of the part of the fandom that write fic that love to bring it up to the band to, I guess, make them feel like we're weirdos. It doesn't help that said obnoxious fans purposely seek out the small minority of REALLY fucked up or weird fic and show them that, instead of the majority of innocent or more normal fic (like, they show them mpreg and cannibalism and shit. There's only a fraction of that, but that's what they choose.)

And it's come up in interviews in the past, with the interviewers being extremely creepy and pushy about it.

I don't blame you for being put off, OP. I'd avoid writing that fanfic too, or maybe post it locked to give myself more of a sense of security about it.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-03 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It would baffle me if celebs were UNAWARE of their fandoms / fic / art of them out there. Seriously, EVERYTHING you post about ANYBODY in a venue made available to the whole world - you'll have to assume they'll eventually see it. It's not like you can put a "everybody EXCEPT the person I wrote porn about" filter on it.

Bottom line - if you're uncomfortable with somebody reading/seeing whatever it is you've written about it, don't post it. Even if they're the modest types who won't self-google, guarantee they'll find out, and they know.

OP

Sorry about the size fail. :P I was in a hurry when I made this and that was the biggest picture I could find.
