This, I freak about getting hurt with matches so I use those

BBQ lighter. I can light a match, but it's still safer and easier.

I'd love to, but my folks are from the Soviet Union. When you have soap, salt and matches, you damn well use them.

(But I can't believe I haven't thought of this before. Screw it, to amazon I go, and thank you.)

There are also such things as "fireplace matches," which are extra long. I'm sure they are way more expensive than regular matches so it's probably just as economical to get one of those lighters.
