Re: Kinks, narrative kinks, and favorite tropes!

Ugh, I totally love the 'person in a friendship group/one of the good guys gets brainwashed/captured/corrupted and becomes a villain and the others have to redeem them without killing them' trope. When said nice character gets corrupted into a villain, they inevitably get the better lines, do the cooler stuff and usually get a badass costume to go with it. I love that!

But then, I can't deny that I kind of have a kink for corruption/parasitism. Something creeping and evil enters you and makes you one of their shadowy minions? Particularly if there's tentacles involved? Yes please.

Ooh I love these too!

That first one is what first drew me into the Teen Titans cartoon because the first one I saw had that plot line.

I don't know if I'm a fan of what you're describing per se, but I'm down with this sort of thing SUPER hard if it's not some kind of complete 100%-evil-because-reasons thing.

I prefer an internal struggle and massive psychological grey area including (but not limited to) loss of identity, boundaries, moral breakdown/arbitrariness, depersonalization... Basically, I can't really get behind a story if someone just becomes "evil" for the sake of drama later, but I love it if they're traumatized to the point of losing their sanity (either permanently or temporarily) and undergo a personality change because of that.

Oooh yes. I especially love it when they use genuine temptation or know how to get under said character's skin to help them accept said brainwashing. A villain whispering sweet poison into a person's ear to exploit their weaknesses and desires is just DELICIOUS.
