Re: Kinks, narrative kinks, and favorite tropes!

Character A is hopelessly in love with Character B, who is indifferent, oblivious or actively dislikes them. Character A pines from afar, content to be despised as long as they can be near Character B, help them anonymously with small or large problems and never take any credit for it, watch them fall in love and be horribly happy for them, maybe even enter into a painful friends with benefits situation that wrecks their self-esteem, and then be utterly unable to believe that Character B could ever fall in love with them. Character A usually becomes ill or hurt at some point because of their feelings for Character B and hopefully their love is revealed in a humiliating way and they run off and drown in their own emotions. And then there is a heart-wrenching confrontation and sweet, sweet love.

Gosh, that got steadily more and more self-indulgent by the line!

ummm, yes please.

It's also interesting for me when it's never really resolved. Like Character A is just stuck in this messed-up situation, that Character B will never really reciprocate.

(Yes I'm a bit of an evil writer; I enjoy making my characters suffer.)
