Re: Kinks, narrative kinks, and favorite tropes!
2. Hurt/comfort. This depends on the character dynamics and how the hurt occured, but when done right? Yeeeeesss.
3. Cruel mercy. It's easy to see heroes just beat up the bad guys, but when one of them is calculating and level-headed enough to realise that they can make them pay without laying a finger on them? Ooooooooh.
4. Sweet and kind characters having deceptive hidden layers besides just yandere craziness. Like liking kinks in bed, or being a massive badass, or having a scary temper when finally ticked off. I've always loved characters that personify 'beware the fury of a patient man'.
5. The heroes being at a disadvantage but still succeeding because they OUTSMARTED the enemy in a really clever and intelligent way. I loved FMA because this happened often, and SNK has some great moments too.
6. Forced drug use for brainwashing and manipulation. An old favorite manga of mine had a villain who used drugs as a tool to gain information, brainwash people, and even make them turn against their friends. She was terrifying because once she got some of her drugs into someone she had them wrapped around her finger.
7. Someone who thought of themselves as straight exploring their bisexuality with someone of the same sex. Slowly realising that maybe they have an attraction for a same sex friend, or trying the alien-but-familiar act of having sex with said friend, etc. Now, this is a common trope, but very rarely done WELL.
