(Anonymous) 2014-02-04 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)Speaking as someone who at one point didn't have a home, it's difficult to not take something as a personal affront when money becomes involved. This could seem like a slap in the face a bit, and it is possible to see it as a problem.
I'm not saying that the artists intent was to alienate, but it's overwhelmingly easy to look at this and think 'just one more thing I can't be part of.' Almost akin to new name brand clothes compared to having to wait until they are in an outlet store. Sure, you may end up with the same clothes as your peers, but you get them late. While some will argue that 'well, it's just waiting!', or 'wow, get over yourself, clothes don't matter!', to some people it does matter.
This obviously mattered to the OP, and whether or not they used the right or wrong terminology, and whether or not it was right to complain this way; they still seemed hurt by it. I'm sure all the horrible comments helped them feel better.
When did fandomsecrets become a place of hate? Or a place where no one can have a shitty opinion (you know, as a secret)?
Because while the act of wanting to charge $1/month doesn't seem at all bad, the reaction people had to the secret, was disgusting.
OP, I don't know if you're a troll, being honest, or trying to stir up more revenue for the comic. But on the off chance that this meant a lot to you, don't let the shmucky comments bother you. You have a right to your opinion, and no one can tell you otherwise.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-04 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)That's it.
One week.
Nothing's being denied. They're being delayed. And they're playing the class card to get around their own sense of entitlement.
It's a good thing that all these people are calling out the horribly selfish attitude of the poster for complaining that they're getting their (free!) content one week late.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-05 03:13 am (UTC)(link)I mean, isn't that a good thing? If they wrote 'I'm going to enjoy my popcorn while I watch you fail.', then there would be dozens of people in this thread telling them to just gtf away from the webcomic. That if they don't like it, they can just leave.
Seems like they already have. I dunno, maybe I'm just too tired and jaded by the internet now that nothing surprises me anymore, and I don't get as angry as I did years ago. It just seems exhausting. I can only hope that with as many people that called out the OP, that they actually went to the site and donated. I mean... it's only $1, right?

(Anonymous) 2014-02-06 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)The thing is, a lot of people in this thread are being classist. The OP themselves is not, they might be rude, and it looks like they are possibly hoping the author sees this, so they can get that one little dig in, that is the last sentence. But none of that is classist. The artist herself isn't classist either.
What is, is the people in the thread who bring up that it's only $1, that it's not that big of deal. See they were lucky enough to have a life where $1 isn't a big deal. So because it isn't a problem for them, they assume that it shouldn't be a problem for anyone else. That IS classist. They are viewing the OPs problem as their own problem, and using their own status as comparison.
We don't know if the OP is incredibly poor and uses fandom for an escape, or if they are incredibly wealthy and just looking to start a wank war. But to assume their financial status, no matter what it is, and call them disgusting on it... well alright, if it's not classist it's pretty rude.
Call the OP out on their behavior, their rude secret, and the feeling on entitlement they seem to have over the artist's work. But don't drag their financial situation into it, because we don't actively know it.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-06 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)Every other post is directed to the OP's complaint that she has to wait a whole week for her free content.
With--maybe--two exceptions, nobody made any assumptions about the OP's financial status, or said that $1 a month is no big deal. It's the one-week wait that they're saying is not a big deal. And pissing and moaning about that does make the OP entitled.
