Yeah, it's just a shame when I hear a sensible-seeming fan like yourself discussing 'pulling-out' of liking the series just because of some bad fans! Even if bad fans rose-up and bred like rabbits, I can't imagine doing anything more than just pulling out of the unlikeable parts of the fandom.

And only one other thing: I'm supposing that 'trying for too much publicity/attention' with your secrets makes less sense to me 'cause they're being posted anonymously? I can see someone trolling the comments for ones pertaining to their secrets [as I am: my secret's actually NOT DN related, BTW XD] or just making-up a secret hoping to stir-up some wank, but most of the DN secrets I see are just opinions that you'd get attacked for having 'cause they're sappy, personal or something like that: secrets precisely because they're the sorta' thing your fellow DN fans would hate you for. =3=; Like, I like Matt: I've liked him ever since he was nothing more than three panels and 5 words in the manga! But it's considered very faddy/unhip/STUPID to like Matt nowadays in the fandom, which is kinda' lame, so I don't talk about loving him often....

XD;; ANYWAY, yeah. sorry for the tl;dr!

AGREED AS HELL on the DN mun RP secrets. =A= RPing is so personal, I think it barely counts as a 'fandom' in this context...

Oh, don't even get me started on Matt. I like him, too. I don't understand all the hate circulating around about him; I mean, sure he doesn't have much character to base him off of - that's something that appeals so much to a fan. But have you seen what some people have done with characters who actually DO have content to back them up? It's more than a little hypocritical.

I mean to say that I see a lot of these secrets as unnecessary. Maybe the poster enjoys seeing the disagreeing flames or agreeing comments, or maybe the poster just wants to get their opinion out. But a lot of it can be painfully repetitive, too. I'm not talking about just today's secrets; I've kept up with all the ones that have shown up in the past. And I really believe there are topics touched in those secrets that have either a) already been discussed too many times before, or b) can easily be discussed elsewhere. (i.e. in their own journal, unless they have something against their f-list, which would suck. D:)

Also, it's not so much the amount of fandom secrets as it is the, ah, RPing secrets which I've been disappointed about. Everyone's so worked up about it, even though it's really not that big of a deal. :[ There's so much drama, sometimes I wonder why they continue to drag it out/add to it/instigate it/inflate the whole mess by posting secrets/etc. I'm not generalizing here, either; I'm sure there are plenty of sensible DN RPers out there who know just what I'm talking about it.

OOOOH yeah, the DN-RP secrets are kind of gay. The RP secrets overall are kind of more personal than I think fits with fandom!secrets, actually. There should be a community called 'RP!secrets' with all of the results that pop-up here, right? [there may actually be one already, not sure, but I think it'd be funny if there already is and still people haunt this place 'cause it's more popular.] The double-ups I think... eh, maybe they're hard for the Fandom!Secrets mods to keep track of? I'd think that they'd be logged under 'repeat!secrets' at this point.

I agree. Not sure if there is one, but it'd be a good idea anyway. I like reading them sometimes, but a lot of the time it's just...eh, not too fun. XD;

I don't think they'll filter them as repeats unless they're the same picture/font/exact words, that kind of thing. The general idea doesn't matter. But who knows.
