Uh...what if the mods are part of the problem and are unreceptive to being approached? What if the point is not to drag anyone into the situation (since, you know, naming names and rpgs is against the rules) but simply to vent on neutral, safe territory?

IMO, vent with your friends. Brps attracts a bucketload of attention. If you just want to post there for "venting" honestly, then you're kidding yourself. Bottomline is, you want other people to agree with you.

Anyway, when the mods are the problem, brps isn't going to do anything to change it. Sometimes it could be better if you just quit.

Yeah...I'm apparently missing a whole lot, such as why having people agree with you is explicitly evil, how this illegitimizes venting, and how it's different from venting to your friends to garner THEIR agreement. o.O

Your "friends" know the situation. A bunch of sockpuppets/wank addicts don't. Have you seen the majority of the posts in that place that get any comments? They're usually just people taking everything at face value and earning brownie points. "Oh, you're right, my character is a ___ but s/he isn't like that ____." "that suxx0rs" "omg stupid, somebody should get banned from the internet!!!!11111"

It doesn't get anywhere. Even if you do have a point, you'll just throwing mud at the "offending" party, nothing more, nothing less.

Fair enough (though I doubt that anyone venting to their friends gives them the whole "situation"). I don't particularly disagree with what you're saying, but I still fail to see why it's wrong or illegitimate.
