They really do. I'm so attached to Fenris it makes it difficult to play the game wherein I'm purposely playing a certain way or romancing another character. I would never turn him over to Danarius no matter how hard line it make that Hawke.

Bioware has done, imo, an excellent job at creating amazing companions in their games. It's one of the reasons they're still my favorite developer.

And I'm the opposite in regard to Kaidan. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way and I can't pinpoint why.

Honestly though, don't be embarrassed about liking/loving a character. Most people have that one that just sets him/her apart from other characters. There's no shame in that really. Enjoy him!

Yeah, I had a bit of love for Garrus back a couple of years ago. BioWare's good at that.

I've purposely set out to romance Kaidan throughout the trilogy and I always fail. Either due to hooking up with Garrus or Thane in 2 or just choosing Liara in 1. This last time I was going to be all Renegage Shep romancing Kaidan but I didn't even get it to trigger due to choosing mostly lower choices.

He doesn't "rub me the wrong way" actually Ash sort of fills that slot but I just found him about as interesting as cardboard. But yeah, ymmv.

Yeah, he's a non-entity for me. His character arc in ME is basically "let me slowly tell you a weird story about a girl I loved and a dude I accidentally killed" and that's it? It's pretty much the opposite of engaging for me, and Sbarge's habit of randomly slurring his speech causes me to just tune out.

I was secretly glad that BW fumbled the writing for his romance so badly in ME3, because it justified my inability to not romance someone else in ME2 by making him a slut-shaming nice guy.

Nah, you're good. I get way attached to Bioware romances, too. Kaidan and Alistair, mostly.

Don't be. Kaidan Alenko is a wonderful character. I went back after playing through all three games on a romance path with him to try and make an Ashley run-through (so I could romance Garrus without reservation)... I am not ashamed to admit leaving him on Virmire was almost physically painful.

I thought he was kinda boring, but moreso in the first game than the third. However, there's nothing *wrong* with liking him.

Late to the Kaidan appreciation party, but I unabashedly love the man as well. I was floored that Bioware seemed to have designed him with my Humble Regular Guy Gone Awesome buttons in mind.
