I never thought of the Rapunzel getting kidnapped as motivation to hide Elsa, but I like it. Makes it a wee bit more sensical.

I mean, I know that it's never stated in the movies, so it's just speculation, but... Rapunzel shows up in the movie, and I'm guessing that the royal families did talk to each other, even in a "were YOU the ones that kidnapped our baby?/Have you seen her?" kind of way.

Though, I have seen headcanons where the Queen from Tangled is the King of Arendelle's sister (or the queens are sisters, either way), which added a layer of personal/familial fear, and I quite like those. :3

No wow I am loving these. I had thought of Rapunzel just as an Easter egg, but this is really nice. It also makes Rapunzel older than Elsa, doesn't it? The thought of her being this long-lost older cousin is amazing.

I'm not actually sure re: age, it could be that the Arendelle royalty had Elsa first, but just kept their kids inside at first because they were young, making it official policy when they heard Rapunzel was kidnapped + Anna getting hit in the head.

It depends on when Elsa's powers manifested, really, vs. When Rapunzel was kidnapped (Rapunzel born second but kidnapped before Elsa's powers manifested, for example). I'm honestly not sure, though I do like the idea of older!Rapunzel. ..

Hmm, well, since it's short-haired Rapunzel we know it's post-movie for het, meaning at least sixteen... How old was Elsa? You could make a case that she's a year or so older, I think, because we don't know how long after her movie Arendelle opened up.

I thought that Rapunzel was at least 18, and that the lanterns were on the same day as her 18th birthday?

And then I think I read somewhere that Elsa is 20/21, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Elsa is older, it could just mean that it's been a couple of years since her hair was cut, making her in her twenties as well, theoretically.

There's a pretty cool theory that the king and queen died on the way to Eugene and Rapunzel's wedding--it happens three years before the start of the movie, exactly when Tangled and their wedding short came out. It explains why they both needed to be somewhere personally.

That's one of my favorite theories, actually, because it does explain why both the King and Queen would leave Arendelle, rather than sending an envoy, or an ambassador- though I think it's stronger when the King and Queen of wherever Rapunzel is at, and the King and Queen of Arendelle are related- because otherwise, why didn't they send an ambassador or envoy, you know?

Unless they're a lot closer together than they look... Something like the main continent of Europe vs. Britain, with that channel maybe? Then it would be logical for them to be on a ship on their way over, and it would be totally possible for there to be a storm that would completely sink the ship, while still having why the king and queen were willing to go themselves to a wedding; it's not that far away.

In Tangled Ever After, the short, one of them remarks "Arendelle is nice this time of year."

Wait, really? O_O

I just rewatched the short, and I didn't hear that at any point. :(
