It probably could and that's probably why it's considered bad luck. But last time I did it I just got this really creeped out feeling that was less "Shit this ladder could fall" and more "What if I just caused some kind of cosmic shift and summoned a demon". Even if I don't believe it, it was just a weird feeling. For reference, I thought it was kind of cool. And that ladder has been leaning up against the side of our house for like five years. Maybe something will make it fall eventually, or maybe my father will put it back in the garage but I think they've both had plenty of opportunities. It would be pretty weird if it decided to fall right when I walked under it! But again, maybe that's the reason for the thing.

Well, it is a mystical hell portal, so yeah, it is pretty neat.
